Hello all,
I am the CCHL Bantam
Governor for the 2009-2010 season. This season should be an
exciting one as we integrate our schedule with Port Hope and
provide our players with a little variety of competition. The
details of that arrangement will emerge over the coming weeks, but
basically our teams will play against our own teams as well as
play against their teams. These games will take place in Cobourg
as well as in Port Hope at the Trinity College Arena. However,
first we have to form our own HL teams. This year the CCHL will be
forming teams in a different manner.
There will be two tryouts
for the Select team this weekend - Saturday, September 19 @ 6:30
pm - 8:00 pm and Sunday, September 20 @ 4:30 - 6:00 pm. Both
tryouts will be held in Pad 2. Cost for the two Select tryouts is
$10 total. Players wishing to play Select should make every effort
to attend both tryouts to give the coach the best opportunity to
see them in action. Please note that OMHA residency restrictions
apply. Players must reside within the hard boundary of Cobourg
Minor Hockey or a right-of-choice area. If you are not sure if you
are eligible to play, please contact Phil Williams or Jeff Snyder.
Players must be registered with the CCHL to be eligible to tryout.
After the coach has chosen
the Select team, those players will be notified. The VP House
League, Select coach and myself will meet to equally divide the
Select players amongst the HL teams. Any players not chosen for
the Select team, and the remaining players who do not want to / or
cannot play Select must attend the HL Evaluation skates on Monday,
September 21 in Pad 2. Players born in 1996 should attend the
first skate @ 8:00 pm until 8:40 pm. Players born in 1995 should
attend the second skate from 8:40 pm to 9:30 pm. There is no cost
for these evaluation skates. Coaches will be in attendance to
evaluate players skills to allow placement on teams that hopefully
will be equally balanced for skills and abilities. Players chosen
for the Select team do not attend the evaluation skates.
The coaches and I will then
meet to form the teams. The teams will be rostered with the OMHA
at this point in time. Your coach will contact you regarding your
team placement and an exhibition game schedule tentatively set for
September 26 through October 5. Upon completion of these games,
the coaches and I will meet to determine if team balance is okay.
If player movement is required, it will be done at this time. The
regular season schedule is set to begin October 17 weekend.
I will be sending updates as
we get the season rolling. See you at the rink.
Bill Cotton
PS - if you know someone who
wants to play but hasn't registered yet - encourage them to do so!
